Fake Blood Tutorial by pullingcandy Fake Blood Tutorial by pullingcandy
(Updated to add what to do with flour and water.)

H'okay.

I've been asked to make a tutorial. Neat, huh. Apparently it looks real, or something :)

I'm really bad at making them, and the file is absolutely gigantic, and I'm not sure what category to put it in, but here is how I make my fake blood.

It's not an in-depth tutorial, it's not a good tutorial, but if you're going to use it, could you favorite this so I can go see what you do with it?

Available for download.

Looks great!
Quick question though, ( if you don't mind) Do you know if it will look good for old blood stains? I have to make a film for school and i'm playing a psycho murderer person, so old blood stains would be good.

(i'm going to use it anyway for fresh blood, but if it makes old blood stains as well it would work even better!)

How I make my old blood is I replace some of the red with soy sauce, or soya sauce. It makes it more like rust, and dries a little different which results in cracking, it's very gross to look at. Old blood is icky lol :) That is what I do, the rest of the process would essentially be the same but instead of adding all of the food coloring, replace some with soy sauce and dabble with how much until you're satisfied with how it looks!

Hey!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, it will help me alot since I need a good amount of blood! haha
But, I have a question, if you don't mind... does it stain the floor or something like that? :< And, what about skin? Is it pretty hard to take off? >.<
I'm sorry, it's just so I don't ruin my bathroom, hahaha (⌒_⌒; )

Thanks for the tutorial anyway! ♡

Hi there :)
As with anything, it of course has the potential to stain. I have NEVER had any problems and I've been using this for years, but if you left it on any surface long enough, it would leave a mark which would take longer to get out, yes :)

I'd absolutely recommend that, but make sure it's able to be sealed tight!

Lovely, I think I'll use this quite a lot. However, does it stay on white clothes forever?

I've had it come out of white clothing easily. It depends on how long the stain sits, and on what you use to get it out.

I wouldn't recommend using it after two or three days, stored. Not because it goes bad, but because it gums together and it's a little harder to use. :)
It doesn't expire, though. It's corn syrup (or normal syrup) and syrup is somewhat like cockroaches or Hostess Twinkies - it would likely survive the end of the world.

Actually it should be me thanking you. I have an art assignment at school and I'm planning to use the extra fake blood for it.
Thanks again for making the tutorial.

So this will work for putting it on clothes? Will it make it sticky? I don't want to hug people and leave them with fake blood on their costumes.

But for wounds this seems AWESOME!

It is alright on clothing if allowed to dry a bit first. Works best for clothes if you use a little more red, though, because the fabric tends to soak up a lot of the color and turn it pink. I have costumes that have had this on them for years, so I can attest that it doesn't rot, either. :)

So use more red food coloring, and let it dry a bit first. Great! Thank you SO much! :D

This is great! I used it for a project [had to turn a household item macabre; I made a bloody t-shirt]. It's fantastic! It looks so realistic, and was so simple to clean up! Thanks for this! It's amazing!

Will it wash off of clothing? I am going to use it for Halloween but I need to know it it will easily wash off, or my mom is going to Kill me!

Mmm well. Because a lot of the color (okay, all the color!) is food coloring based, it can stain - badly.
It washes off most of the time for me and I have only stained one thing, ever, but it would require some cleaning.
I wouldn't use it on anything you want to keep.
