As with any gallery moderator on deviant art, I have specific and set in stone guidelines for daily deviations. For those of you who don't know what a daily deviation is, or how to suggest one, this article is for you!
If you were to be browsing the Horror and Macabre Gallery one day, and suddenly, you noticed a photograph that sent chills down your spine, and you feel like it should be noticed by a wider audience, the first step is going to the deviants page.
Checking to see if they have had a daily deviation in the past three months is important! By clicking on their gallery, and clicking 'Browse', if they've had a daily deviation, a link will show up at the bottom of the first screen that will read '"Deviantnamehere"'s Daily Deviations." If you click on that, it will bring up their most recent, and older, daily deviation features. By checking the date, you'll notice if they have had a feature within the last three months, and you will know whether or not your suggestion can be accepted! The quick summerization deviation below gives you the basics of what you should be looking for when checking for a past daily deviation:
If they HAVE had a daily deviation within the past three months, I am not going to DD them again until their three months is up, if not longer. This is to allow room for other artists to have their chance to be featured.
As I am the gallery moderator for Horror and Macabre Photography, one thing to remember is that I only look after that one particular gallery. I do not deal with the following, and future moderators of this specific gallery will not deal with them either:
Of course, there are some suggestions that come from galleries such as:
Photography > People and Portraits > Expressive/Glamour Portraits/Self-Portraits/Body Art
Photography > Conceptual
Photography > Abstract & Surreal
With the proper permissions, if the suggestion suits my Submission Guidelines, I can feature from these galleries as well, as long as the suggestion is related to my genre. Examples of such would be:
First choice would always go to the gallery moderator of the specific gallery, of course, but again - as long as it fits the range and scope of what I feature, the suggestions are highly welcome.
How NOT to suggest a Daily Deviation:
Basic and universal common sense applies right here. The first thing you should never do, when suggesting to me or to any other gallery moderator, is be rude. We're VOLUNTEERS, and we are people who have time constraints and we're here to assist you, and interact with you, but we're not going to listen if you are going to be rude.
If your suggestion is declined, there will be a reason. Be it the size of the photograph, or the quality, etc, most moderators (myself included) will give you a reason if you so desire.
By looking at folders such as: Penny for your Macabre, you can get a good handle on what I like to see, and what I don't is obviously not in there.

Something I can't feature:

Self Suggestions: YES YES YES!
I'm a strong advocate for self promotion. I encourage that you self suggest, as long as it fits in to my genre, if you feel comfortable doing so!
A few suggestions before going ahead and doing it though:
To end this, I have compiled a list of links that might help you on your journey to suggesting daily deviations!
