Britney Jean Spears (born December 2, 1981) is an American recording artist and entertainer. During her first decade within the music industry, she became a prominent figure in mainstream popular music and popular culture, followed by a much-publicized personal life.
If you don't think Britney Spears is scary, I beg you to remember her 55 hour marriage, her subsequent marriage to backup dancer Kevin Federline and her 2006 mental breakdown in which she shaved her head with electrical clippers and lost custody of her two children. She's also significantly famous for her crotch shot while getting out of a limo, and her weight gain and loss, and her truly memorable onstage performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. David Willis of BBC stated her performance would "go down in the history books as being one of the worst to grace the MTV Awards".
Throughout her career, Spears has drawn frequent comparisons to Madonna and Janet Jackson, in terms of vocals, choreography and stage presence, citing both as influences in her work. She has also named Michael Jackson as a source of inspiration.
In March 2011, Spears released her seventh studio album Femme Fatale.
